Less is More: Baby Items I can do without

So I’ve taken an informal poll, asking parents what baby items they found unnecessary. So here are the results, majority wins, well usually but not in this case. Just decided to go with my opinion. Here is a list of items I can do without. Tell me what you think.

Burping Cloths: Babies turn almost everything into a burping cloth and unless you have one handy every second of the day they will not be very useful.

Wipe Warmer: This can possibly be a perk for baby during diaper changing but hardly a necessity. The added benefit of warmed wipes is countered by the fact that you cannot use them on the go.

Infant Shoes: As if getting your child dressed isn’t difficult enough why add a second to the process with infant shoes.  Although sometimes useful in cool weather they are for the most part nonessential. But here’s the thing, they are oh so cute and as a first time mom I found them hard to resist. So if you must, add this item to your baby registry. However, I suggest your registry have mostly practical items with only a couple non essentials like this.

Diaper Genie: I chose to not have a collection of dirty diapers in this strange encasing device. Maybe helpful for late night changes but I’m not sure that alone justifies the purchase. I guess the point is toss it and forget it, there’s no diaper, there’s no odor. But you can’t really forget about poop, after all you must empty and sanitize your diaper genie, seems like added work for a minor convenience.
