Niasia and son Zaire
There are many things that bond us as mothers and one is labor and delivery. Niasia and I are both first time moms to little boys born just a month apart. She is a terrific mother and here is her delivery story.

My little prince Zaire is so active now and was really active throughout my pregnancy. I was admitted into the hospital at 33 weeks because he was determined to leave that crammed space and no longer wanted to take residence in my tummy. Although being admitted was scary it was best for him so I sucked it up and made myself at home for the next few weeks.

At 37 weeks my doctor told me I would be induced. I was terrified having heard so many horror stories but I was even more excited to meet my son. So we began the induction and they gave me Pitocin and this caused contractions. My contractions hurt pretty bad so I got an an epidural at 2cm. Once I reached 5cm the medication no longer worked and the pain become more severe. I cried, screamed, and even begged for help but I was encouraged to keep going because I knew I was getting closer to meeting my baby. I was about 8cm when I just couldn't take anymore and felt the urge to push.  I pushed for several minutes and on August 29, 2012 at 8:18pm my little prince was born. I heard the doctor say "is he peeing on me?" Everyone laughed and my son cried. I felt  relief and I breathed new air into my lungs.

We met and instantly fell In love. I now know what it's like to love unconditionally. My son makes my life worth living and motivates me to be better than yesterday. As a first time mom I'm not going to have all the answers but my plan is for us to learn together.
